How to Clear the Print Queue
To clear the print queue, follow these steps:
- Check to see if there is an error message from the printer. To do this, right-click an empty area on the task bar and click Minimize All Windows. If the printer has sent an error message to your computer, using this method may leave it open on your screen.
- If there is no error message, check that the printer is on, online, and properly connected to your computer. If you use a switching device, make sure it is set to your computer. See your printer documentation for more information.
- Check the printer's paper supply, and make sure that there are no paper jams.
- Check the printer queue. To do this:
- Click on Start, then Control Panel.
- When your Control Panel is open, double-click on Printers and Faxes. (If you don't see that icon, then click on the link on the left under Control Panel that says Switch to Category View.)
- Double-click your printer.
- If there are files in the printer queue, wait for them to finish printing or delete them. To delete:
- Click on Printer in the menu bar, then Cancel All Documents.
- If they don't delete after a short period of time (a few minutes), try turning the printer off and see if that helps.
- Turn the printer off, and then turn it on again. This will clear the printer's memory. Try printing again.
If none of those work, then call me.
